First post here, I'll probably continue this thread with more info and just add date stamps to keep y'all up to date. (But it's a long post too, so maybe I'll just start a new catagory...)

Player characters for now:

Aloy - Wood Elf Paladin with the voice of dragons. (Horizon Zero Dawn and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

Auto - Human Bard (Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse aka Hobie Brown)

El Wookie Chulo "The Muffin Man" - Giant Ewok Sorcerer (Star Wars)

Lochemet "Forest" - Goliath Barbarian [Borrowed Weapons Build]

Kairon "Featherbane" Vayl - Halfling Fighter [Lucky Build]

Other characters:

Thea Winnow - Threadborn Cleric [Sole Healing Focus]

Session #1 Plot:

A set of strange heroes awaken in an unfamiliar world. They find themselves in a dark cave with no clear way out. Thankfully, one of the characters manages to light a fire using their own hair. It'll burn fast, but it doesn't seem to matter. As soon as light fills the chamber, one of the strange figures notices a crack in the wall and makes a bee-line out of the cave. The others quickly follow with little pushback.

After squeezing through the crack, the party finds themselves swallowed by darkness once more. It weighs down on their shoulder's locking them in place. A few people notice a faint light off in the distance. Closer examination reveals it isn't too far away, it's just small.

Inside the light hangs a small figure, almost like a pixie or fairy. But the woman is neither, she appears to be some sort of puppet, hung from strings that disappear into the air. She calls out to the strangers, asking if they know anything more than her. Some introductions are in order, but little information is actually shared. One party member even tries to hug the little puppet without even introducing himself. With the sudden grasp she suddenly disappears before poofing back into existence behind the group.

Despite knowing little more than the others, she has a feeling about the way out, and leads the party toward the exit.

The group find themselves blinded by light as they step out from the cave into a small clearing. It appears to be a small valley, surrounded by cliffs and pine trees. As they get their bearings, they notice slight rustling in the bushes above, just out of reach on the cliff.

Suddenly, several goblins jump out into the clearing. They look ready for war, but are barely equipped to put up much fight. The group of strangers has no choice but to stand their ground.

But the goblins have advantage, they close in on the heroes and try to make a move. The heroes attack back. They manage to meet the goblins halfway and deal the first damage.

With some unexpected team work one goblin is defeated with no weapons at all, just bare fists and drop-kicks. From there, Aloy manages to find a weapon used by the deceased goblin.

Everyone hurredly takes out the remaining enemies, but there are two noticable subtractions. Kairon, the taller-than-average halfling has vanished. In his place appeared Thea, ready to back up the party in his absence. But where did he go? In addition, the strange furry giant seems to have rocks for brains. He ignores the goblins entirely and focuses on attacking a tree. He manages to light it on fire, before taking a spot next to it. Perhaps he's interested in camping, arsen, or just starting needless forest fires.

But nevertheless, the party reigned victorious against the goblins and managed to survive the light encounter. They will live to face another day.

My thoughts:

The story sounds better written out like this. Obviously there were some schenanegans I wasn't prepared for. But I like the story now that it's done. I have to remember these are new DnD players and I'm giving a decent amount of free reign for my world. (I'll keep them from messing up canon too far.)

Clearly, I have no plans on adding Ewoks, Dragonborn (Skyrim version), Spider-man, etc. to my world. They just don't make sense. (But that's on me for letting my players choose these characters.)

The nice thing is, I could tweak these characters slightly and actually make something out of it. (Maybe there's a lore version, and a non-lore version that my players are actually playing.)

For now, my general plot going forward is probably canon, and a lot of the characters choices/interactions could be as well. They're playing in a new region of Rungaard without a lot of specific lore so this story is helping me build that. Essentially the story is set in Norte, a region of Norte Sothgaard, a state belonging to Sothgaard. (Confusing, I know! But that makes it interesting I think.) I'll shine more light on this country/region in the future. But for now think of it as this, it's a region of the country just south of modern day Tyr's empire. (That too has an official name, but I'll leave that for later.)

I have to find a balance of reigning my players in, keeping them interested, and not destorying my world. (One of the players seems set on doing whatever they please when they're bored, so that'll make things interesting for me...Not necessarily a bad thing.)

I hope this was a fun addition to Ngash lore. It should help me build out areas I'm not currently focused on.

More or less, I like it for now.
